Ashveil Chronicle

Ashveil Chronicle surprised us with how much writing it packs into a phone game. You play a wanderer who returns to a frozen city and slowly gathers allies, each with their own small stories that actually pay off later. We spent far more hours here than planned.

Combat is turn-based and leans on positioning rather than raw stats. Moving a character one tile left can change a whole fight, which keeps battles thoughtful even on the small screen. The menus are clean and never buried three taps deep.

It respects your time with generous save points and no energy timers, which is rare and very welcome.
